PORQUÊ? Até ao momento, os lubrificantes não precisam de ser testados em termos de segurança para serem vendidos. Resultados de pesquisas disponíveis brevemente --- ver em www.irmwg.org --- mostram que alguns lubrificantes usados para sexo anal não são tão seguros como outros. Ao preencher este pequeno questionário, você estará a ajudar cientistas a escolher que lubrificantes deverão ser testados.

QUEM SOMOS NÓS? O International Rectal Micobicides Working Group (Grupo de Trabalho Internacional de Microbicidas Rectais) IRMWG é um grupo de activistas comunitários e investigadores de 35 países que estão a trabalhar no aumento de opções para a prevenção do HIV/VIH e infecções transmitidas sexualmente para os homens e mulheres que têm sexo anal.

I am writing to request your help in increasing the responses from Europe to the International Rectal Microbicides Working Group’s survey on lubricants used for anal sex. While the survey is available in 6 European languages, and while there are some notable exceptions (Turkey and the UK come to mind), by and large the response from Europe has not been exactly overwhelming, given the prevalence of internet access and sophisticated NGO networks present in Europe. I am hoping you can change that!!!!! Below is a message in 4 languages that you could use to get the word out through your web sites, listserv you belong to, networks you could approach.
European stats on the survey:
- This week, the overall responses increased by 33%, which is excellent overall! However, when you dig deeper, you realize 2 super-stars are carrying all the weight (83% of all new responses from Europe).
- The UK is responsible for 40% of that increase. BRAVO!!!!!!!
- Turkey is responsible for 43% of the increase: you are the proud winners of this week’s Golden Dildo Award! J
- The survey is available in French (4 responses this week), Portuguese (2 responses this week, not from Europe), Spanish (44 responses this week including 10 from Europe: Bravo!) and German (1 response, not from Europe). WE NEED TO INCREASE THESE NUMBERS! Perhaps our UK and Turkish colleagues can share their successful strategies?
In addition, two weeks ago, I issued a challenge to increase the proportion of female respondents to the survey, which then stood at 10.4%. Today, women still only account for 12% of the 2,400 responses we have received from over 75 countries. Obviously, we are far from reaching the previous challenge of having 20% of responses from women!
Below is a message targeted specifically to women, in English, French and Spanish. Can you send this around to your affiliates, post it on your web site or include a note in a newsletter? We are hoping for assistance in reaching listservs, networks and organizations that could help us reach more women.
The survey is now included in 6 languages (English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Turkish), and we will be adding 4 more languages in the next few days (Hindi, Tamil, Marathi and Telugu).
